Preliminary Scientific Programme
The new findings explored since the last congress in St. Petersburg, Russia, will be communicated during the VI ECOP by Plenary Lectures, Workshops, Contributed Paper Sessions and Poster Sessions. We will deal during the complete congress with the following four main topics, each day focussing on a special area of the corresponding discipline: Systematic and Evolution, Genomics/Proteomics, Parasitology/Symbiosis, and Ecology.
In the middle of the congress we will concentrate exclusively on a rather exciting subject, i.e., Concepts of Protistology. Starting with one introducing Keynote Lecture "Species Concepts", a number of Topic Lectures will follow.
The afternoon of this day will be devoted to Prof. Dr. Miklós Müller, Rockefeller University, New York, USA. On the occasion of his 80th birthday in 2010 we will recall during VI ECOP 2011 his merits in protistology by celebrating an exceptional symposium.
Registered participants will have in due course of the congress free access to the nearby, famous Botanical Garden of Berlin suitable for recreating strolls during breaks which are interspersed in the daily academic activities.
